SKATE DAY 4

The updates for Day 4: I continued testing a more upright alignment on the prosthesis, but this time lowering the front of the foot toward the ice to give more toe attack on the front of my blade. This hopefully allows me to push off from the toe harder allowing more power and more control.

The weight transfer is still altered since this prosthesis has no containment for my right hip. The design of this leg was for maximum comfort and longevity during walking/activities of daily living where an aggressive hip containment barrier would be too restrictive for daily life. For hockey, a more solid hip containment ridge will be necassary to allow me to skate with alternating feet. For now, we will continue the “skateboard” method of skating.

The increased hip strength of both hips has improved my turning/pivoting/stopping potential.
