SKATE DAY 3

Here we are for Day 3. I came to the rink with my new CCM stick. The lightweight composite stick feels like an extension of my hand rather than an item carried onto the ice. I notice that its extreme lightness magnifies the weight of my blocker. The interesting differences in body mobility are apparent as I replace each old piece of gear with lightweight modern equivlents. Between Day 2 and Day 3, I did some adjustments to my prosthesis. As mentioned in Day 2, I brought the right knee a bit more squarely underneath me to alleviate the backward lean of the socket I was experiencing. The leg is still pretty abducted as you can see, but I’m making better contact on the ice with the right skate despite it being very heavily weighted on the back end of the blade.

My left hip mobility is improving as the hip mobility work outs I’ve been doing at home have really loosened up the muscles needed to pivot mid stride.
